Designing Effective Surveys

While designing your surveys, keep the following points in mind to maximize your survey participation:

  1. Try to keep the surveys as focused and short as possible. If the required survey is long, incentivize participation in the survey (for e.g. with a gift card)
  2. Ask direct questions and eliminate ambiguity in your surveys. Use branching logic to skip through irrelevant questions and shorten the survey for some participants.
  3. Avoid sending out surveys too frequently to reduce survey fatigue. A general rule would be to send out at intervals of 2 interactions or more (if it is a weekly class, survey students with a gap of at least 2 weeks).
