The latest Zoom release includes a security update. This is mandatory to continue using Zoom after Tues, Dec 14. LFS users can use the Desktop Central agent to perform the update, instructions can be found at https://lc.landfood.ubc.ca/desktop-central-self-service-portal/.
Those without admin access will need the help of the Learning Centre IT staff: it@landfood.ubc.ca. The latest available version as of November 28, 2021, is 5.8.6.
Software updates include greater security from malware and hackers, as well as new features.
This update has a useful new feature for presenters. Presenters can select others to advance the presenter’s slides even when they are not the ones screensharing!
