UBC’s Executive has mandated new measures for securing personal information (PI, PI definitions). You can read more on the increased security at https://privacymatters.ubc.ca/covid19_increased_security.

What Needs to be Installed?

  • Cisco AMP (Anti virus software)

You must uninstall Sophos Antivirus if it is present on your computer. UBC’s Sophos license expires on July 29, 2020.

Encryption

If you handle a significant amount of high to very high risk personal information, your computer must be encrypted. We encourage you to contact us at it@landfood.ubc.ca for consultation.

https://privacymatters.ubc.ca/encrypt-my-devices#self-encrypt has detailed information on encrypting your computer. Select the tab for your computer’s operating system to see the relevant instructions.
