Zoom breakout rooms and keyboard shortcuts:

Keeping the LFS graduation reception and Teaching Colloquy in mind, we have put together a list of tech tips you can use during your Zoom sessions:

  1. To ensure you can self-assign yourself to breakout rooms, sign in from your Zoom desktop app instead of a web browser. Update your Zoom client if you have a version lower than 5.3.0. You can download the ‘Zoom Client for Meetings’ (desktop app) at https://zoom.us/download.

More information on the self-assign option for Zoom breakout room can be found at https://lc.landfood.ubc.ca/using-the-self-assign-option-for-participants-in-zoom-breakout-rooms/
  2. Try using keyboard shortcuts for basic functions during your Zoom calls:
    •  Alt – Hide/Unhide Meeting Controls
    • Alt + A – Unmute/Mute
    • Alt + V – Start/Stop Video
    • Alt + M – Mute/Unmute Audio for everyone except host
    • Hold Spacebar – Unmutes until spacebar is released
