This session will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at noon. Lewis Fausak (Education & Research Support Technician, Applied Biology) and Duncan McHugh (LFS Learning Centre) will be the presenters this week.
In this session, Lewis will explain how he became involved in sharing science communication through art, diagrams, and figures. He’ll discuss the process he takes to creating images, as well as the tools used. Images will be showcased from his Instagram Adventures in Soil, prize winning soil booklets The Carbon Crystal Heist and The Beetles: A Salty Soil Journey, and images and figures created for the Canadian Society of Soil Science open source textbook Digging into Canadian Soils: An Introduction to Soil Science.
Join Lewis and Duncan this Friday to learn and discuss how you can improve your science communication by creating thoughtful images using intuitive and inexpensive tools and programs. Duncan will go over a range of options, from basic to advanced, and Lewis will give a live demo of his process using ProCreate.
If you have an image you want to create, email lewis.fausak@ubc.ca with additional details and several inspiration images.
